April 16, 2017, we will celebrate Easter Sunday. Before that, let’s take a look back and do some flashback on why we do celebrate Easter.
Easter, [nb 1] also called Pascha (Greek/Latin) [nb 2] or Resurrection Sunday, [nb 3]is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.
In the New Testament, after the Romans crucified Jesus, he was anointed and buried in a new tomb by Joseph of Arimathea but God raised him from the dead and he appeared to many people over a span of forty days before he ascended into heaven, to sit at the right hand of God.
This Sunday, come and visit Cedar Valley Church for their special Easter Service, 9:30 and 11:00 AM.
Happy Easter everyone!
